of New Laboratory and Pharmacy Services Centre at Altnaglevin
Hospital, Northern Ireland
The
new Laboratory and Pharmacy Services Centre at Altnagelvin
Hospital was officially opened on 20 March 2007 by Health
Minister Mr Paul Coggins. Construction of the centre was completed
at a cost of approximately £18 million ten weeks ahead
of schedule under the supervision of United Healthcare.
The
Minister said "The new pharmacy department represents
state of the art facilities and is further tangible evidence
of our investment in pharmaceutical services. Its impressive
robotics system will create new opportunities to further deploy
staff in clinical activities so they are free to spend more
time with patients on wards."
Designed
over three floors of accommodation surrounding a central courtyard
the building provides strictly controlled specialist laboratory
facilities together with naturally ventilated offices and
staff areas.
The
develoment was funded through a Public Private Partnership
through a consortium managed and led by United Healthcare.
Construction
of the centre was undertaken by Farrans Healthcare with a
design team led by Kennedy Fitzgerald and Associates.
Construction
commences on the Castle Hill Hospital site, Hull
A
'turf cutting' ceremony on 9 March 2006 marked the start of
the construction phase for the new Oncology and Haemotology
hospital to
be
built on the Castle Hill Hospital site in Hull.
The
£65m development will be one of the most significant
capital investments in the local region in the past 100 years
and is the culmination of a number of years of strategic planning
by the Trust, the Health Authority and Primary Care Trusts.
The Oncology and Haemotology development will provide treatment
and palliative care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
It will be a UK Centre of Excellence for the treatment and
care of patients, utilising state of the art technology and
equipment available.
United
Healthcare were the Bid Managers for the Healthcare Solutions
consortium, sponsored by ABN AMRO and Shepherd. Other key
members of the consortium include OPERON, HLM Design and Haden
Young.
Rochdale
schools project reaches new milestone
Rochdale
Council and the Axiom Education consortium have reached financial
close and the construction phase has commenced for this £56m
project. The project includes the design, build and operation
of new primary, secondary and special schools at Hollin, Hamer,
Marland Hill and Oulder Hill. The aims of the project are
to provide 21st century school facilities for over 3,000 pupils
and to break down the barriers by providing a seamless continuum
for all pupils requiring Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools
provision in the Borough. A major feature of the proposals
is the plan to co-locate special schools with mainstream schools
(on three of the four sites).
United
Healthcare were the Bid Managers for the Axiom Education consortium
that includes ABN AMRO Bank, Shepherd Construction, OPERON,
Haden Young, Aedas and Bryanston Square.
New £18m Laboratory
and Pharmacy Centre for Altnagelvin
Construction
has commenced on site for a major redevelopment for Altnagelvin
Hospitals.
The
Altnagelvin Hospitals Laboratory and Pharmacy Service Centre
PPP project is an £18m project to design, build, finance
and maintain a Laboratory and Pharmacy Service Centre for
the Altnagelvin Hospitals Health & Social Services Trust.
The
state-of-the-art Laboratory and Pharmacy Centre includes provision
for five separate specialist laboratory areas, along with
a new pharmacy department which will incorporate special cancer
drug dispensing facilities.
United Healthcare is
the project sponsor, an equity provider as well as the Bid
and Consortium Managers. The consortium includes Farrans Construction,
Integral FM Services, Ash Corporate Finance, Kennedy FitzGerald
Associates, Cundall Johnston, Mulholland & Doherty and
Northcroft.

New
21st Century health facilities for Oxted, Surrey
Development
of the new Oxted Therapies Unit and a 62-bed nursing home
has been completed on the site of the old Oxted and Limpsfield
Memorial Hospital in Oxted Surrey. The new facilities
have been developed via a Private Finance Initiative (PFI)
deal by Anvil Healthcare Group (AHG), a joint venture between
Cathedral Healthcare and United Healthcare.
The
project includes the design, build and provision of facilities
management services in relation to a Rehabilitation and Therapy
Centre for the NHS; a new nursing home that will be operated
by Barchester Healthcare; and affordable housing units to
be managed by L&Q Housing Association.
